PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
Detection method
The sodium concentration is detected by a sodium selective glass electrode pair. The sodium sensor develops a potential proportional to the log of the
sodium concentration.
Chemistry
The pH of the sample is raised to 11.2 with a reagent to eliminate pH and ammonium interference. The water soluble, volatile amine reagent is completely consumed.
Calibration
Calibration based on the double known addition technique, with a user-selectable standard solution. The response characteristics of the electrode are monitored during calibration. The response data are used to diagnose the electrode performance and to reduce the calibration time.
